Denver is at the forefront of many things, but did you know Denver leads the way in designer paper fashion?
One Paper Fashion Show will feature couture designs on the runway this spring
One Paper Fashion Show features couture designs make entirely from paper. The masterfully created fashions take the runway this spring. Boasting the largest show of its kind in the nation, One Paper Fashion Show celebrates its 15th year. Proceeds support the non-profit Downtown Aurora Visual Arts, after-school programs providing quality arts education for at risk youth.
One Club for Creativity-Denver Brings Denver Creative Arts to an International Stage
ONE Club for Creativity – Denver (previously the Art Directors Club Denver) produces the fashion show with a talented and creative team of volunteers. The non profit organization promotes collaborative creative culture throughout Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Region. Bringing together art directors, media designers, writers, illustrators, photographers, videographers, animators, educators, and students, One Club champions local creative arts and is a hub for emerging internationally recognized work.
Couture Paper Designs on Display Now in the Hallway of Stanley Marketplace
The paper fashions don’t hit the runway until April. However, you can find a sampling of dresses now on display in the hallway of Stanley Marketplace. After getting a bite to eat at Comida, we had a pleasant surprise running into paper fashion show designer Kim Lim. Lim is one of the show’s veteran and ultra talented designers. This will be her 4th year participating in the show.
Meet Paper Fashion Show Designer Kim Lim, Creator of “Kindness” En Haute Couture
Lim gave us a preview of her dresses that are on display at Stanley Marketplace. Seeing just a small glimpse into what is involved in making each piece, we were blown away by the hundreds of hours and deep inspiration the artists pour into the show. Lim calls this white dress “Kindness.” It is not only wedding and couture inspired, but Lim says she was inspired in making the dress by the need for “kindness.” As a result of a friend going through a tough time, Lim made the dress to shine more light and goodness on the world. She created every layer by hand. A tiny rhinestone sits in the center of each square fold throughout.
Some describe “haute couture” fashion as “a piece of art.” In the case of Denver’s One Paper Fashion Show, the description could not be truer. The designers weave extravagant artistic detail into layers of meticulous patterns, paper embellishment and original wearable works of art. This is a show you won’t want to miss!
